Wandiyali is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation established in Awabakal (Newcastle) in 1997. As the largest accredited Aboriginal provider of Permanency Support Program (PSP) Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) services across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Region and Port Stephens, Wandiyali is committed to delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed and community-led supports for Aboriginal children, young people and families.
In addition to OOHC services, Wandiyali delivers a broad range of Family Preservation and community support programs, working in partnership with children, young people, families and communities to achieve safe, culturally strong and sustainable outcomes.
The Opportunity
Please note, this is a fixed-term position ending on Wednesday 30 June 2027.
The primary function of the PSP Foster Care Operations Manager Worowaan is to provide leadership, direction
and service delivery oversight of the care teams ensuring;
- Effective Oversight of the day to day operations of Wandiyali Casework Care teams
- A quality service which promotes the welfare, Cultural connection and interests of children, young people and their families as well as carers.
- The provision of safe, stable and suitable permanency options for children and young people
- The delivery of quality case management of children and young people to meet their Cultural, day-to-day care and support needs.
The Wandiyali PSP Foster Care team has the following key responsibilities;
- Support children and young people in care
- Support carers to maintain Culturally rich placements for children and young people in care
- Promote and implement the most appropriate permanency care options
- Ensure that Wandiyali PSP Foster Care service provision aligns with;
o Legislated hierarchy of care models
o Children’s Guardian accreditation requirements
o Business planning and industry best practices
o Wandiyali funding contracts, as well as
o The Cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of employees, carers, children and young people as
well as their families.
